Shane Wilkin re-elected commission president

The Highland County Board of Commissioners re-elected Shane Wilkin as the board president for 2015 during its organizational meeting Monday, Jan. 12.
Tom Horst was voted as the commission vice president for 2015.
Wilkin has served as commission president since 2009.
New board member Jeff Duncan made the respective motions for president and vice president, and both passed by 3-0 votes.
Commissioners also voted, 3-0, to continue regular board meetings on Wednesday mornings, unless it's a holiday. Commissioners said if all business is not completed on Wednesday, the meeting will continue at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, without an adjournment of the Wednesday session.
In other business, commissioners passed several resolutions, including re-appointments of Shane Wilkin, Bill Fawley and Debbie Robbins to the Community Development Block Grant complaint procedure committee.

In other action, commissioners approved the following resolutions, each by a 3-0 vote:
• A resolution to agree to rehire county employees.
• A resolution to agree that the amount to be paid on animal claims for 2015 shall be set at 50 percent of the market value of the stock killed by dogs.
• A resolution to appoint Horst to the Joint Solid Waste Management District Policy Committee for 2015.
• A resolution to appoint Duncan to the Ohio Valley Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D) for the year 2015.
• A resolution to agree to Wednesday meetings.
• A resolution to approve a list of commissioners as board members for the year 2015.
• The commissioners' blanket travel resolution.
• A resolution to establish $5,000 for county blanket purchase orders.
• A resolution for the CCAO designation of Wilkin as official representative and Horst as alternate for CCAO membership meetings.
