Shaffer graduates with honors from Air Force technical training course
Airman First Class Jeremy R. Shaffer completed technical training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas and graduated with honors while completing the Materiel Management Apprentice Course.
To graduate with honors, students are required to maintain an overall 90-percent GPA and exemplify Air Force standards of conduct, including leadership, followership and team building.
A former Highland County Commissioner and mayor of Lynchburg, Shaffer graduated with a 92-percent GPA and was in the top 10 percent of his class.

“A1C Shaffer set a positive example for his peers in academics, dress and appearance and customs and courtesies,” USAF Staff Sergeant Asad S. Abdul Muhammad II, Material Management Instructor, said. “He excelled in every aspect of the course with ease.”
Following graduation, Shaffer returned to the 178th Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS), part of the 178th Wing ANG Springfield, Ohio.
Shaffer is the son of Sandra L. and Roger L. Shaffer of Lynchburg; son-in-law of Jeff and Teresa Curry of Wilmington; brother of Dodi L. McAllister of Saint Cloud, Minn., Nicholas Shaffer of Wilmington, and Britta Hilterbrandt; husband of Stephanie S. Shaffer; and father of Ethan, Joshua and Marianna Shaffer.
He is a 2000 graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High School, Lynchburg, Ohio. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Wilmington College.
