Sen. Niraj Antani introduces bill to require proof of citizenship for voter registration
COLUMBUS – Today, Senator Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) introduced a bill to require proof of citizenship prior to voter registration. The bill denotes a variety of acceptable documents and identifications that qualify to verify proof of citizenship prior to voter registration.
“Securing Ohio’s elections must be our top priority. This bill will stop illegal immigrants from voting in our elections. As the Biden administration has allowed open borders and an invasion of illegal immigrants into our country, we must take every precaution to ensure they don’t vote in our elections,” Sen. Antani said.
On August 22, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered that an Arizona law go into effect that allows them to require proof of citizenship prior to voter registration.
“With the Supreme Court’s correct decision in allowing Arizona to enforce this law, Ohio should join Arizona in safeguarding our elections in this same manner,” Sen. Antani added.
In late 2023, Sen. Antani also introduced a bill to ban election drop boxes.
