Sen. Brown announces $250,000 to upgrade water infrastructure in Adams County

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded $250,000 to the Adams County Commissioners to improve water service in Bratton Township and the Village of Seaman through construction of a new 75,000 gallon elevated water storage tank.

“Proper water management is critical to the infrastructure of Ohio communities and their ability to be economically competitive,” Brown said. “This funding will help improve service for rural customers and improve access to quality water in Adams County.”

The new tank will integrate with existing water infrastructure and end reliance on the current tank system, which is located 15 miles away and cannot guarantee reliable water service. The project will improve service for 680 households and 40 businesses including manufacturers, farmers, healthcare facilities, and schools.

ARC is a federal-state partnership focused on economic development in the 13 Appalachian states. The Commission is tasked with bringing Appalachia’s job opportunities and per capita income to parity with the nation and making the people of Appalachia more globally competitive. ARC is also focused on increasing the region’s economic competitiveness through strengthening infrastructure.
