Sankers named Republicans of the Year at Lincoln Day Dinner

The 2026 Highland County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner was held Monday, March 23 at the Back Room Paradise Event Center near Hillsboro with nearly 140 in attendance.
Many candidates were present for a meet and greet prior to the delicious buffet dinner served by Carson’s Farmhouse Favorites.
The Republican of the Year Award was given to Larry and Judy Sanker jointly for their contributions of time and service to the Republican clubs.
The keynote speaker was Congressman Mike Carey, 15th District. He shared his background and his growing up in the district in Fayette, Clinton and Highland counties, noting that previous Carey generations lived in the Careytown and Fallsville areas.
Congressman Carey serves on the prestigious House Ways & Means Committee and the Committee on House Administration as well as being Deputy Majority Whip. He took questions from the audience and asked that we keep our military and the nation in our thoughts and prayers. He was well-received by those present.
