Construction for two separate resurfacing projects in Highland County will get under way next month as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation have set their schedule and begun making site preparations.
On Tuesday, September 6, crews from Cox Paving, Incorporated will begin paving S.R. 138 (Seventh Street) and S.R. 41 (Washington Street) in Greenfield. Seventh Street will be paved between its junction with S.R. 753 and S.R. 28, while Washington Street will be paved from its intersection at Jefferson Street to the village’s corporation limit near Burch Lane.
In a separate project, the contractors will also be resurfacing state Route 771 from its junction with S.R. 28 at Leesburg to the route’s end at S.R. 138; construction for this project is scheduled to start the week of September 12.
Cox Paving, of Leesburg, was awarded a contract in July in the amount of $309,435 to pave S.R. 41 and S.R. 138, and the construction company was awarded a contract for approximately $927,965 in December 2010 to pave S.R. 771.
Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers when crews are at work, and the scheduled completion date for all work is October 31.
