A report of road rage leads to discovery of meth lab

A case of alleged road rage resulted in the discovery of a meth lab, according to the Highland County Sheriff's Office. 

According to the HCSO, at approximately 8:01 p.m. Thursday, the office received a report of a possible road rage situation on involving a vehicle traveling on U.S. 50 near the community of Allensburg. A deputy on patrol was able to locate the vehicle just west of Hillsboro. 

According to HCSO Det. Denny Kirk, the office received a call reporting that a driver in a 1980s model blue Cougar was "driving in what (the caller) believed to be an aggressive manner. She didn't have a lot of specifics as to what she saw, other than the driver was erratic and possibly angry, and that concerned her. We didn't observe it directly, but there was a deputy in the area who was able to make the traffic stop."

During the traffic stop it was found that the driver, Terry Scott Ross, 24, of Brush Creek Township, had an active warrant out for his arrest. It was further found that a passenger, Andy Munyon, also had an active warrant for his arrest. 

During an inventory search of the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office, there were allegedly several items located that are used in the production of methamphetamine. Detectives were called to the scene and a subsequent search of the residence of Terry Ross resulted in additional items related to the production of methamphetamine, the HCSO alleged. 

A hazardous materials cleanup crew was dispatched by the Drug Enforcement Administration to the scene on Skeen Road, due to the hazardous nature of the materials found at that location. 

A number of items were located as evidence and will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation crime lab in London, Ohio. Once analysis is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Highland County Prosecutor's Office for possible presentation to an upcoming grand jury. 

Ross was taken into custody due to the active warrant on failure to appear in Hillsboro Municipal Court. He was sentenced to 23 days in the Highland County Jail.
