Rep. Peterson highlights upcoming round of Brownfield Remediation Grants

COLUMBUS – State Representative Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) this week announced that the Ohio Department of Development has released guidelines for the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program.

In House Bill 96, Ohio’s State Operating Budget, the General Assembly allocated $200 million for the program. As required by the bill, $1 million is reserved for applicants in each of Ohio’s 88 counties and will be awarded via a merit-based process. The application opens Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. and will close on Dec. 5 at 5 p.m.

“The Brownfield Remediation Program is an important investment in Ohio’s future,” said Peterson. “By cleaning up and repurposing these sites, we open the door for new economic opportunities and job growth across the state.”

The Brownfield Remediation Program provides funding to help clean up industrial, commercial, and institutional brownfield sites that are abandoned, idled, or underutilized due to a known or potential release of hazardous substances or petroleum.

The Department of Development will host a webinar at 10 a.m. on Oct. 28 to present the guidelines in detail and allow potential applicants to ask any questions.
