Rep. Brad Wenstrup kicks off re-election campaign
On Saturday, Oct. 3, Congressman Brad Wenstrup announced his candidacy for re-election to Ohio’s Second Congressional District.
At campaign events in Scioto, Brown, and Hamilton counties, supporters are joining Wenstrup as he discussed the importance of principled, conservative leadership in Washington and restoring the American Dream for Ohio workers and families.
He also emphasized the pivotal role of Ohio in the 2016 presidential election and the support of a strong grassroots team that shares his commitment to limited government, traditional values, a strong national defense and free enterprise.
“I’m excited to begin my campaign today with the encouragement and help of so many friends and supporters. I’m grateful for their support and for their confidence in me,” Wenstrup said. “To serve my fellow citizens is a humbling responsibility, and a duty to which I am completely dedicated.”
Wenstrup begins the campaign with over 180 grassroots endorsements from elected officials and Republican leaders across the Second District’s eight counties, and over $550,000 cash on hand at this early stage in the campaign.

Leading the grass-roots team, Wenstrup announced County Campaign Chairs in each county:
Hamilton County: Amy Murray, Cincinnati City Council, Josh Gerth, Anderson Township Trustee;
Clermont County: Greg Simpson, State Central Committee;
Brown County: Jessica Little, Prosecuting Attorney;
Adams County: David Kelley, Prosecuting Attorney;
Highland County: Shane Wilkin, County Commissioner;
Ross County: George Lavender, County Sheriff;
Pike County: Erica Snodgrass, County Auditor; and,
Scioto County: Bryan Davis, County Commissioner.
Wenstrup was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012. In his first three years in Congress, he has been a leader in helping to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs, ensuring the U.S. military can meet the challenges we face around the world and reducing the regulatory and tax burden on small businesses and families.
“As we enter this new era of Republican leadership, it’s important to have members of Congress who will continue the fight for a strong national defense, limited government, and jobs here at home,” Wenstrup added. “I am committed to being a strong and effective voice on behalf of Ohioans across the Second District.”
Brad Wenstrup is a veteran of the Iraq War and a former small business owner. He treated patients as a doctor for 27 years in southwest Ohio. Today, he continues his military service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. While serving in Congress, he fulfills his Reserve duties by treating patients at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.
As a member of Congress Wenstrup serves on the House Armed Services Committee, House Veterans Affairs Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Brad was born and raised in Cincinnati, where he, his wife Monica, and their son, Brad Jr., continue to reside.
