Rep. Bird highlights federal natural disaster relief for Ohio farmers

COLUMBUS – State Representative Adam Bird (R-New Richmond) today announced that the USDA Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) application is now open. This program provides critical financial assistance to farmers impacted by natural disasters in 2023 and 2024. A total of $16 billion in federal funding is available.

“We stand with our farmers and the vital work they do for our community,” said Rep. Bird. “I’m hopeful that this program will promptly provide strong support.”

Eligible producers include those who suffered losses as result of natural disaster occurring in calendar years 2023 and or 2024. 

These disasters include the following:

Wildfires
Hurricanes
Floods
Derechos
Excessive heat
Tornadoes
Winter storms
Freeze (including a polar vortex)
Smoke exposure
Excessive moisture
Qualifying drought, and related conditions.
 
To apply for SDRP, producers must submit the FSA-526, Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) Stage One Application, in addition to having other forms on file with FSA.
