Power restored to uptown area

Power has been restored to the uptown area of Hillsboro and state Route 138 following a transformer issue.

AEP confirmed that approximately 650 businesses and residences in the Hillsboro were without power due to a transformer issue, starting around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Power was restored shortly after 8 p.m.


Power was out in the area of West Main Street and through the 300 block of South High Street, including the Hillsboro Police Department. There were also outages on state Route 138 south.  


AEP crews were working in the alley behind the HPD, located on West Walnut Street, and was anticipating power will be restored by 8 p.m. The traffic light at the intersection of South High and Walnut Street is out due to the power issues.
