Poll: Strickland, Fisher hold slim leads over Kasich, Portman

A new Ohio Poll shows Democratic incumbent Gov. Ted Strickland holds a 5-point lead over GOP challenger John Kasich. In the race for the U.S. Senate, Democrat Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher leads Republican and former southern Ohio Congressman Rob Portman by a single point.
With a margin or error of 3.8 percent, the poll indicates these two closely watched races are virtual deadheats just five months before the general election. The poll also shows Ohio's approval of President Obama, who won the state and its 20 Electoral College votes two years ago, has fallen from 63 in April 2009 to 46 percent.   
The Ohio Poll was conducted by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati between May 11-20, 2010.
