Pokémon Go gamers warned: Acts of vandalism won't be tolerated

From jaywalking to littering, local Pokémon Go players are being warned not to violate the law.
Highland County Commissioner and former sheriff Tom Horst said the historic Highland County Courthouse lawn and the Highland County Veterans Memorial have had some vandalism this week, possibly related to crowds of people playing the game on their smartphones.
The Pokémon Go game requires players to capture animated characters while competing against other players. Pokémon Go uses the phone’s GPS function to place maps of the streets and landmarks.
Horst said acts of vandalism on county property will be prosecuted.
"We've had issues with littering and the lights at the memorial being tampered with," Horst said. "This is very disrespectful."
The gamers have become a nuisance in some areas. So much so that Arlington National Cemetery posted the following notice:
"Out of respect for all those interred at Arlington National Cemetery, we require the highest level of decorum from our guests and visitors. Playing games such as 'Pokémon Go' on these hallowed grounds would not be deemed appropriate. We request that visitors to ANC refrain from such activity."
