Highland County Democratic Party Chairperson Dinah Phillips was sworn in to serve another term on the Highland County Board of Elections Wednesday, by Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss.

Phillips has served two terms, plus two years on the board, she said. She was appointed to the seat in 2003, to fill the remainder of Dick Zink's term after he was elected as Hillsboro mayor.

Phillips thanked Coss for swearing her in, saying that he has administered her oath each time she has been appointed to the board.

"It has been a privilege to serve on the board of elections," Phillips said. "Being chair of the party, it helps because of all the activity that comes in on a daily basis, you stay in the know."

Phillips said the board of elections office has a wonderful staff and volunteers who dedicate their time to making sure the county can efficiently and economically put on the elections.

"We've been really blessed," Phillps said.
