Paslay, Ballard entertain Festival crowds

Another warm, sunny evening brought a packed house to the Festival of the Bells on the Fourth of July, as Nashville recording artists Frankie Ballard and Eric Paslay brought upbeat country music to uptown Hillsboro Friday evening.

Ballard opened the show with a high-energy performance, jumping around the stage and even climbing on the Merchants National Bank roof during his performance. He sang his number-one hit "Helluva Life," along with his current single "Sunshine and Whiskey."

Paslay fittingly performed his top 10 hit "Friday Night" to the large crowd on Independence Day, along with his latest hit, "Song About A Girl."

Festival guests also enjoyed participating in and watching pedal tractor pulls and dance performances, along with visiting food, rides and crafts vendors, before the concerts.

The Festival of the Bells will wrap up Saturday with a full schedule of events, starting at 7 a.m. with a 5K Run/Walk. Other events include the annual Hillsboro FFA Cornhole Tournament and Merchants National Bank-sponsored Pet Parade.

Zach Paxson will perform at 7:30 p.m., followed by Parmalee, who will close the festival at 9 p.m. with their performance, including their smash single, "Carolina."
