The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash involving one vehicle. The crash occurred on Oct. 24 at approximately 3:23 p.m. on state Route 749, near milepost 4, in Ohio Township, Clermont County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by William Gabriel, 75, Amelia, was traveling eastbound on state Route 749 when it traveled off of the right side of the roadway. The Silverado then struck two utility poles before coming to final rest off of the roadway. Mr. Gabriel had two occupants in the vehicle with him: Natalie Gilreath, 19, Cincinnati, and Trail Shelton, 21, Amelia.

Mr. Gabriel and Mr. Shelton both sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. It is unknown at this time if either of them was wearing a seat belt. Ms. Gilreath sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted with this incident by the Pierce Township Police Department, Pierce Township Fire and EMS, Ohio Township Fire and EMS, UC AirCare, and Gray’s Towing.
