One-car crash with entrapment closes Route 73

A one-car crash with entrapment had state Route 73 in Liberty Township closed just west of Hillsboro at approximately 7 a.m. Monday, April 25.

A driver and one passenger were trapped after their vehicle left Route 73 near Diven Road and rolled onto its top and coming to rest in a creek. The vehicle quickly filled with water as emergency responders attempted to free both the driver and passenger.

Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District and the Highland County Sheriff's Office were on scene at 7 a.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded.

Route 73 was closed for approximately one hour.

The conditions of the vehicle's driver and passenger were not immediately reported.
