ODOT crews out; arctic blast to arrive late Sunday

With the threat of freezing rain early Saturday morning, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9's maintenance facilities have been dispatched to begin patrols and pre-treat roadways.

Although temperatures are expected to rise and the precipitation turn to rain, roadways are likely to be slick and ice may be present. As such, crews will be patrolling and treating the state highway system as needed throughout the night.

Motorists are reminded of the additional need for caution, reducing their speed, allowing additional travel time and maintaining a safe following distance behind other vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington says we can expect showers most of the day Saturday, with a high near 55. The chance for precipitation is 100 percent.

A wintry mix is possible for Sunday, with falling temperatures across the region. The low Sunday night will be near 17 degrees.

The high Monday will be 23 with an overnight low of 14. The low for Tuesday and Wednesday will be near 10, the NWS said.
