National Cooperative Bank (NCB), a leading financial institution which provides banking products and services to southern Ohio and the nation's cooperatives, their members and other socially responsible organizations, has awarded a $40,000 Community Reinvestment Act Grant to the Highland County Community Action Organization.
"Highland County Community Action (HCCAO) extends its heartfelt thanks for the generous donation from NCB to our Winter Crisis and Senior Nutrition programs,” stated Tianna Sammons, Director of Social Services. “This contribution will enable us to provide crucial support to more Highland County residents, ensuring they can stay warm in their homes this winter. Additionally, it will allow us to offer a variety of engaging activities for our senior community members.
“NCB’s support makes a real difference in the lives of those who need it most, and we are deeply appreciative of their kindness.”
The $40,000 grant will be directed to the following two programs:
• $30,000 to the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Winter Crisis Program. This program assists eligible households who have an immediate need for heating assistance, such as minor furnace repair, 110-day supply of fuel or less, service terminated/off, new or transferring of service or a disconnect within 30 days. The program is available generally from Nov. 1 through March 31 of each year.
• $10,000 to the Greenfield Senior Nutrition Program. This program provides home-delivered meals to adults 60 years of age or older that are homebound. Congregate meals are also provided to adults at the Greenfield Nutrition site.
Funds are to be directed to Highland County residents who meet the HUD low to moderate income guidelines for Highland County.
“As NCB’s CRA Officer, I am delighted to present this grant to Highland County Community Action. This funding will ensure that our most vulnerable Highland County residents stay warm and well-fed throughout the winter,” stated Mary Alice Hartley, VP Regulatory Compliance & CRA Officer.
