Mowrystown community 'wears a smile for Nicki Knoblauch'

Nicki Knoblauch was a kind-hearted and compassionate young lady who lost her nine-year battle with breast cancer on March 25, 2014.

Throughout her ups and downs, she always wore a smile on her face, which would turn anyone’s bad day into a good day. She wanted no financial assistance for herself while she was living, but once she passed away she wanted her husband, Dan, to have some help taking care of their two daughters, Morgan, 16, and Macy, 13.

After Nicki’s passing, the community pulled together on May 10, to fulfill Nicki’s request to help her husband, Dan, take care of medical expenses and his two daughters. The community held a pulled pork lunch and a live auction. “I Wear a Smile For Nicki” T-shirts were sold as well.

Organized by Heather Roberts, Kara Juillerat and so many others, the event raised $19,500. Angie Bogart designed and sold T-shirts to raise an additional $500. This brought the total for Nicki’s family to $20,000.

Heather and Kara would like to thank all of the community members for making this possible.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Nicki was definitely wearing a smile on her face the day of the benefit.
