A Mount Orab man was sentenced last week to a minimum of 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to four counts related to child pornography.

As previously reported by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, on March 27, Daniel Wright, 44, was indicted by a Brown County grand jury on 54 counts, including 27 counts of illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a second-degree felony, and 27 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, a fourth-degree felony.

Wright pleaded guilty in August to four counts of illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, with the remaining 50 counts dismissed, according to court records.

All four of those charges alleged that on or about Dec. 1, 2023 through March 5, 2024, Wright “did photograph a minor who was not [his] child or ward … in a state of nudity, or create, direct, produce or transfer material or performance that showed the minor in a state of nudity.”

During a sentencing hearing Sept. 4, Brown County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Gusweiler ordered that Wright order a minimum of six years on count one, consecutive to six years on each of the following three counts, for a minimum of 24 years in prison. Under the Reagan Tokes Law, Wright could serve up to 27 years. He had 182 days of jail time credit.

In addition, Wright will be classified as a tier II sex offender, requiring registration every 180 days for 25 years.

Wright was admitted into the Correctional Reception Center in Orient on Sept. 9, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
