This past week, 25 members of the Lynchburg-Clay FFA attended the 95th State FFA Convention in Columbus. While there, five members were recognized for their extraordinary efforts within their Supervised Agricultural Experiences.
Jacob Allen and Matthew Gossett found out in February they were finalists in the areas of Diversified Crop Production - Placement, Star of Ohio in Agricultural Production and Fiber and Oil Crop Production.
During the second session of the Convention, Allen was named State Winner in the area of Diversified Crop Production - Placement. Allen’s SAE involves working on his family farm, assisting with raising corn, soybeans, wheat and hay on their 6,500 acres.
During the third session, Gossett was named the State Winner in the area of Fiber and Oil Crop Production. His SAE consists of working on his family farm as well as raising his own crops on his 43 acres.
Both Allen and Gossett will be representing the State of Ohio at the national level in their respective areas. We wish them the best of luck this summer.
Members Somara Donley and Brya McClain were awarded the highest degree that Ohio FFA can bestow, their State FFA Degree. Qualifications of this honor include effectively investing and earning $1,500 in their SAE; completing 25 hours of community service; participating in at least three state-sanctioned FFA Career Development Events; and showing active involvement within their FFA chapter.
Brya McClain and Ella Barry received Gold Pins in honor of their efforts completing their officer reports. Both McClain and Barry worked many hours preparing their books for evaluation in January.
Congratulations to all of these members.
