McClain grad makes senior rank in Space Force

A McClain graduate recently saw a promotion within the United States military and his father, a teacher at McClain, got to be a part of it all.
Joshua Wilson is a 2008 graduate of MHS and son of retired USAF Master Sgt. John Wilson, military science instructor at McClain and leader of the McClain Cadet Corps. Technical Sergeant Josh Wilson has been in the military since he graduated and his current assignment has been as deputy Government Special Access Program Security Officer for Space Delta 12 at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado.
As of Sept. 1, Greenfield got its first senior, non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Space Force as Josh Wilson was promoted to Master Sergeant, which John Wilson said is a rank that is the “top tier” of the space enlisted force.
A promotion ceremony was held on Sept. 2 on the Peterson Space Force base and John Wilson got to be involved, though he said he didn’t know he would be until not long before the ceremony.
As part of it, John Wilson and grandson Jayven Wilson got to “tack on” Josh Wilson’s stripes, which John Wilson said is a military tradition of people hitting those stripes symbolizing the stripes becoming a part of the bearer.
Josh Wilson and his wife Courtney, son Jayven, and daughter Delainy live in Colorado Springs.
