Lunar eclipse under way this morning

The October 8 lunar eclipse is visible above the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church in this photo from 5:40 a.m. Wednesday.

This is 2014's second total lunar eclipse.

The eclipse began just after 4:30 a.m. EDT and will continue until sunrise.

Today's eclipse brings the rare sight of a blood moon – a lunar eclipse that coincides with the rising or setting of the sun.
