The Leesburg Lions Club has honored eight Fairfield Local students from grades 5-12 with G.O.O.D. Program Awards.

The G.O.O.D. (Going On Or Defeated) Program was started by Ron Derry, an Ohio teacher who, after 18 years of teaching, suddenly went blind. At that point, he dedicated his life to encouraging people to understand that all problems can be overcome.

The concept of the G.O.O.D. Program is to recognize young people who work hard and exhibit standards of good citizenship, personal skills and study habits.

One student from each of the eight grades was chosen by their teachers and received a letter of recommendation from the teachers, a certificate and a G.O.O.D. T-shirt. The senior recipient also received a $500 college scholarship.

This year’s winning students were: Shaleigh Duncan (5th grade), Jenna Elking (6th grade), Abby Davis (7th grade), Nate Buchanan (8th grade), Hannah Purdin (9th grade), Mallory Nestler (10th grade), Brayden Corzatt (11th grade), and Kayla Gordon (12th grade).

The Leesburg Lions Club congratulates all these fine students!
