Ohio Secretary of State’s Office, Press Release

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced Tuesday the certification of the citizen-initiated constitutional amendment on redistricting to the November ballot.

For the measure to appear on the November ballot, at least 413,487 signatures are required, equaling 10 percent of the total vote cast for the office of governor during the last gubernatorial election. Additionally, the signatures must have been obtained from at least 44 of the 88 counties in Ohio. From each of these 44 counties, there must be signatures equal to at least 5 percent of the total vote cast for the office of governor in that county at the last gubernatorial election.

The redistricting amendment petitioners reached 535,005 signatures in 58 counties.

The constitutional amendment will next be considered at a yet-to-be-scheduled Ohio Ballot Board meeting to consider ballot language and title.
