In a ceremony in the Ohio Senate chamber where he began his political career as a state senator in 1979 at the age of 26, John R. Kasich took the oath of office at 12:08 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10 and became the 69th governor of the State of Ohio.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ohio, Maureen O’Connor, administered the oath of office to Gov. Kasich as his wife, Karen, held the family bible and his twin daughters, Emma and Reese, looked on.
O’Connor also administered the oath of office to Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor, who was joined by her husband, Donnie, and sons, Joe and Michael.
After being sworn-in, Kasich administered the oath of office to members of his Cabinet.
As is Ohio tradition, Kasich’s ceremonial swearing-in will occur at noon at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus.
