Joseph and James Otworth earn Eagle Scout

The Highland County Board of Commissioners, Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer, read separate proclamations on behalf of Highland County's newest Eagle Scouts, twin brothers Joseph and James Otworth.

During Wednesday's commission meeting, the Otworths were presented the proclamation of excellence for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

James' project included planting 114 trees as a visual and sound barrier between the Highland County Fairgrounds and an adjacent subdivision.

Joseph's project included renovation efforts at Dunn's Chapel Cemetery on Anderson Road. The project included cleaning a fence line, painting more than 300 feet of fence and removing weeds and debris from the cemetery.

The Otworths thanked their parents, Dean and Julie Otworth; Troop 226 scout master, Butch Shoemaker; the Highland County Fair Board; county commissioners; Dave Stratton; and local businesses Morgan Fence, Sherwin Williams, Lowe's, the YMCA and TSC.
