Jeff Griffith withdraws from auditor's race

After receiving 1,164 votes in the primary election, Jeff Griffith has withdrawn from the race for Highland County auditor.
Griffith sent this letter to the Highland County Board of Elections this week:
"It is with regret that I inform you that I will not be able to continue as a candidate for county auditor for Highland County as the
Democrat candidate for this November's election. I've found with my
work-related responsibilities, having to get up at 2:30 to 3:00 in the
morning and not getting back until 4:30 or 5:00, and with my duties to
my family and church that I will not have enough hours to campaign
properly for this office. Therefore, it would not me fair to my
family, my church, or my employer, to continue to run for the position
of Auditor of Highland County.
"I thank all those who voted for me in the Primary Election this year, but it is simply not possible for me to effectively run for public
office at this time in my life. Again, thanks to you and all those who
have supported me."
Highland County Auditor Bill Fawley is the Republican candidate in the general election.
