Jacobs charged with attempted murder

A Hillsboro man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a December shooting on Belfast Pike. 

 

Jimmie Jacobs, 64, allegedly shot 28-year-old Jonathan Harris in the face, according to the Hillsboro Police Department, on the evening of Dec. 15 at J and J Automotive, located at 60 Belfast Pike. 

 

Jacobs was initially taken into custody and charged with felonious assault. 

Following the incident, Harris was listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. 

 

Last week, a grand jury in Highland County Common Pleas Court returned  a secret indictment charting Jacobs with one count of attempted murder with a gun specification, a felony of the first degree; one count of felonious assault with a gun specification, a felony of the second degree; and one count of aggravated burglary with a gun specification, a felony of the first degree. 

 

Jacobs is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on March 16 at 1 p.m., with a final pretrial scheduled for April 20. A jury trial has been scheduled for May 23.
