Jackson attorney takes on key leadership role in Ohio State Bar Association

On July 1, Richard W. Clagg began a three-year term on the Ohio State Bar Association Board of Governors.
Clagg was elected by his peers to represent Ohio Bar member attorneys in District 8, which includes Pickaway, Ross, Vinton, Highland, Pike, Jackson, Gallia, Brown, Adams, Scioto and Lawrence counties.
The Ohio Bar Board of Governors is a 24-member volunteer body that manages the Association’s business affairs, sets policy and reviews pending legislation on behalf of the members of the Ohio Bar. Twenty-one members are elected by attorneys in their districts and three members serve as at-large appointees.
Clagg is a partner with Oths, Heiser, Miller, Waigand & Clagg, LLC in Jackson, practicing in estate planning, probate and real estate law. Along with the Ohio Bar, Clagg is a member of the Jackson County Bar Association and the Ross County Bar Association, where he has served as head of the bar admissions committee.
In his community, he has also served as president of the Jackson County Law Library board and is active in his church, the Rock Full Gospel Church as an elder, and on the Jackson County Planning Commission. Before his election to the board, Clagg served on the Ohio Bar’s Council of Delegates, the association’s policy-making body.
Clagg earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and his law degree from Capital University Law School.
