Informational meeting on Amazing Race of Highland County set for May 26
An informational meeting will be held May 26 for nonprofits interested in the third annual Amazing Race of Highland County.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Bagshaw Enterprises, 8414 State Route 124, Hillsboro for non-profits who would like to be involved in this year’s race.
All chosen nonprofits will receive a donation of $500 to their organization if they will staff a roadblock (challenge) during the race. To be selected, someone from your organization must be present at the meeting and fill out the forms.
The third annual Amazing Race of Highland County will be held Saturday, Aug. 8 at Liberty Park in Hillsboro.
The Amazing Race of Highland County is a two-person team running (or run/walk) event. It is a cross-country race, approximately 7-8 kilometers long, but along the race route there will be 20 roadblocks, or challenges.
Each team must complete a task or challenge before continuing. These roadblocks are designed to test and reward (or penalize) your memory, quick thinking, sporting and/or gaming skills. You will likely get a little wet, and you will definitely have fun.
Food and drinks will be served the party after the race.

Last year, the race grew to 115 teams (230 participants), with about 275 volunteers, and $14,000 was donated to local charities. That brought the two-year total to $26,000 donated to charity. (For a list of 2014 nonprofit organizations, see sidebar.)
The event organizers are also looking for sponsors for the 2015 event.
