Husted: Election Day is less than one week away
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted reminded voters Thursday the March 15 Primary Election is less than one week away, and the deadline to request an absentee ballot is Saturday, March 12 at noon.
Over 8,800 precincts will be open on Election Day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Ohio voters can access information about their sample ballot and their polling location at MyOhioVote.com/VoterToolkit.
Absentee Voting by Mail and In-Person
All Ohio voters may vote absentee by-mail by requesting an absentee ballot by Saturday, March 12 and returning it to their county board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. Absentee ballots with a postmark by March 14 will also be counted, but voters who choose to return their absentee ballot close to the deadline should consider delivering it to their board of elections to ensure it is counted.
Secretary Husted has established uniform hours for in-person absentee voting to ensure all voters have fair and equal access to the ballot during the 2016 Primary Election. Ohio voters will have had the opportunity to vote over the course of four weeks, including two Saturdays and a Sunday.
Each early voting center is open March 9-11 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 13 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, March 14tfrom 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
What’s on the Ballot
In addition to the Presidential Primary Election, Ohioans will have the opportunity to vote on primary races for U.S. Senate, 17 congressional contests and a number of local candidates as well as decide the outcome of 465 issues in 82 counties.
Voter Toolkit
The online Voter Toolkit is a one-stop location for all necessary voting information. Ohio voters can visit MyOhioVote.com/VoterToolkit to check their voter registration status, find their polling location, view their sample ballot and track their mailed absentee ballot.
Military & Overseas Voting
Ballots for military and overseas voters became available on Jan. 30. Military voters who have not yet registered to vote or submitted a request for an absentee ballot may still do so by visiting OhioMilitaryVotes.com or OhioVoterPassport.com for overseas voters. There they can download the Federal Post Card Application, register to vote and request an absentee ballot, read through frequently asked questions, track the status of their mailed ballot and sign up for election reminders via email and social media. All voters can also contact their county board of elections directly for more information.
