Marie Knott
1922-2007


Marie Knott was the co-founder of the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society.

She also ran the Hillsboro Weather Station.

Marie was born in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In 1941, Marie graduated from Central High School in Charlotte. She earned a business education degree at Kings Business College.

She worked over 20 years for the Farmers Home Administration.

Marie and her husband, Tom, lost both of their children as toddlers.

They dedicated themselves to helping others research their own families.

In 1976, they co-founded the Southern Ohio Genealogy Society and helped place a genealogy library in the Hillsboro branch of Southern State Community College.

When Tom Knott died in 1988, Marie took over the Hillsboro Weather Station.

In 1998, she received a commendation for her years of service as a National Weather Service Cooperative Observer.
