Thomas L. Knott
1915-1988
Thomas Knott was a highly experienced weather observer who assisted the National Weather Service in keeping Highland County safe.
He also was co-founder of the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society.
Tom was born in 1915 in Brown County, Ohio.
He learned meteorology in the service before and during World War II and later became a Cooperative Weather Observer for the National Weather Service.
He was awarded posthumously the John Campanius Holm Award by the National Weather Service.
He also worked for the United States Department of Agriculture for 30 years, specializing in soil conservation.
With his wife, Marie, Tom co-founded the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society and helped place a genealogical library at the Hillsboro Branch of the Southern State Community College.
