Jean H. Kessel Carson
1929-2007


Jean Carson was one of Highland County’s most devoted civic leaders through her outstanding service in community, religious and human relations activities.

Jean was born in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton.

She and the Rev. John Carson were married in 1951.

She received a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University in 1952 and a degree from Diocesan Theological School in 1994.

Jean served as a member of the Highland District Hospital Women’s Auxiliary for 30 years which included time on the executive committee and as president. She served on the board of the Highland County Mental Health Association, the Highland County Heart Branch of the American Heart Association, the Highland County Health Planning Council, the Hillsboro Area
Branch of the American Association of University Women and the Hillsboro Women’s Club.

She received many awards and honors including selection to the Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame in 1982.

Jean was founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Samaritan Outreach Services and a board member of the Southern State Community College Foundation.

Jean was devoted to Highland County, and the community is better for her service.
