Hillsboro Police Reports

On Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at 11:36 a.m., Joshua Leonard of Hillsboro reported the theft of a lawn mower from the garage at his residence.

At 12:07 p.m., the Wal-Mart store of Hillsboro reported the apprehension of a shoplifter who took $52 in merchandise without paying for it. Tonya K. Rhoads, 48, of Seaman, was charged with one count theft.

At 12:57 p.m., The K-Mart store of Hillsboro reported the theft of items from the
store by an employee. The matter remains under investigation.

On Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2:32 a.m., the Speedway gas station located at 1459 North High Street, reported the theft of merchandise from the store. Upon investigation, a suspect has been identified and a warrant for theft is being obtained.

At 11:54 a.m., a three-vehicle property damage crash occurred in the 700 block of North West Street. Upon investigation, a 1999 Toyota operated by Arleen McGarvey, 47, of Hillsboro, was stopped in traffic. A 1996 Dodge operated by Sherrie Nartker, 64, of Hillsboro was behind McGarvey and was unable to stop in time, striking the rear of the McGarvey vehicle. A 1997 Chrysler, operated by Sean Grove, 28, of Hillsboro, then struck the rear of the Nartker vehicle. No injuries were reported. All vehicles sustained non-functional damage. Nartker and Grove were both cited for failing to maintain an assured clear distance ahead (ACDA).

At 6:28 p.m., the Wal-Mart store, located at 540 Harry Sauner Road, reported that a shoplifter had been apprehended after taking $22 in merchandise without paying for it. Astasia Clemons, 21, of Hillsboro was charged with one count of theft.
