Hillsboro man killed in crash on Sorg Road

The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Sept. 14 at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sorg Road, approximately 1/10-mile west of Davidson Road, Whiteoak Township, Highland County.

The preliminary investigation showed a 1967 Dodge pickup truck operated by James W. Hart Jr., 66, of Hillsboro was traveling westbound on Sorg Road. Hart’s vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a grain bin, where Hart was ejected. The vehicle continued and struck a barn before coming to final rest.

Hart sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was declared deceased at the scene by a representative from the Highland County Coroner’s Office.

Hart was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Highland County Sheriff’s Department, Highland County Coroner’s Office and Paint Creek EMS.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
