Hillsboro man charged with drug trafficking

A Hillsboro man has been arrested and charged on three counts of trafficking in drugs in the presence of a minor.
John Cumberland, Jr., 68, has been placed in the Highland County Justice Center and will be arraigned Monday, Jan. 9, following the Saturday, Jan. 7 arrest.
According to the Hillsboro Police Department, a search warrant was served in the 100 block of Monroe Street in suspicion of drug trafficking. Through the investigation, the HPD said "A male was selling drugs from his residence."
At approximately 11:36 p.m. Jan. 7, the Hillsboro/Greenfield Joint Special Response Team served a search warrant issued by Hillsboro Municipal court Judge David McKenna.
During the search, officers found and seized multiple bags of what they believed to be crack cocaine and a small amount of cash, the HPD said.
The evidence will be submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification.
A 10-year-old juvenile was removed from the home and Highland County Children Services was contacted.[[In-content Ad]]
