On Wednesday Dec. 17, 44 members of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter visited nursing homes in Hillsboro to sing Christmas carols.

Members first visited Crestwood followed by Heartland and the Laurels. Some residents joined along in the singing but overall, all the residents seemed to enjoy the company.

After singing, members went to the local Walmart and purchased items for families in need which we call “Adopt a Family.”

Students are able to select items that the families need but can’t afford so that they can have a Merry Christmas. The items that are purchased are then brought back to the school and wrapped for each family member.

At the end of the annual FFA Fruit Sale, the Hillsboro FFA also donated 40 pounds of Florida citrus fruit to each family along with 10 pounds of Ohio apples for the families.

"The goal is that the family can have a Christmas just like everyone else," said Madison Snyder, Hillsboro FFA Officer.

"Members of the chapter always enjoy having the opportunity to buy the items for the family and help the community too."
