Hills and Dales holds annual balloon launch

Rain showers did not dampen the spirits of the Hills and Dales Training Facility clients and staff members celebrating National Developmental Disabilities Month on Thursday with their annual balloon launch.
Hills and Dales held an open house Thursday, and commemorated Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Highland County.
Highland County Board of Developmental Disabilities interim superintendent Fred Williams boosted the excitement of the crowd at balloon launch with a megaphone.
"We're letting everyone know that we're here, and that we're proud," Williams said to the cheering students and clients.
The facility held an open house beginning at 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Williams said that there was a good crowd in attendance.
"The most important thing though, is that our clients are happy today," Williams said.
Board of DD President Linda Allen said that she was encouraged by the attendance and the kind comments community members said about Hills and Dales.
"We had a packed house," Allen said. "The Sunshine Band from the Highland County Senior Center played, and there was a huge crowd of clients and people from the community. I was very encouraged, because we have been through some rough times this year, and that was great to see and hear the good remarks people were saying, in terms of support."
