The Highlanders await final confirmation for Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Chapter

President, Cincinnati Chapter of the
Sons of the American Revolution
The Highlanders, the newest Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Chapter, is awaiting its final confirmation.
During an organizational meeting held March 26 at the Eagles Aerie 1161 in Hillsboro, a contingent responded to a request of Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) members from the Adams, Brown and Highland counties for information about the formation of a new chapter in this area.
Representing the Ohio Society State (OHSSAR) President James D. Schaffer, Secretary Donald C. McGraw, Cincinnati Chapter President Michael B. Gunn and several members of the Cincinnati Chapter were present to show their support for the prospective chapter.
Also Compatriots Ian M. Cunningham and Ervin Chaney who are serving as mentors and DAR member Charleene Tarr who recently sponsored several new SAR members form her family were in attendance.

During the recruitment process, new members have been placed into the Cincinnati Chapter by Registrar Franz Ott II in anticipation of this new chapter. After the colors were presented by the Cincinnati Chapter's Nolan Carson Memorial Color Guard, being commanded by OHSSAR Color Guard Commander Tony Robinson, a thorough presentation of the requirements of a new chapter and operations of SAR programs was completed under the direction of OHSSAR President Jim Schaffer.
OHSSAR Secretary Don McGraw then laid out the blueprint he had prepared for the principles present and interested in chartering the Highlanders Chapter. The minimum signatories for applying to the OHSSAR Board of Management were exceeded by the 19 names on the application which was accepted by the Ohio Society Board of Management at its annual meeting on April 30. The president and the secretary will be selected after the Charter for The Highlanders has final approval from SAR National Headquarters.
The Ohio Society and the Cincinnati Chapter look forward to working with this new chapter and to engage and interact in the communities of Adams, Brown, and Highland counties through the compatriots in the Highlanders. Several members of the Cincinnati Chapter joined the charter as dual members in order to allow seamless assistance for the first year of its operation.
