Highland Soil and Water Conservation District holds 2014 Annual Meeting
During the meeting, several awards were presented and the election of supervisors took place.
Ramona Mootz took home top honors at this years’ Annual Meeting by being named the 2014 Cooperator of the Year by the Highland SWCD supervisors and staff.[[In-content Ad]]
Mootz was selected due to her devotion to agricultural and her determination to improve soil and water quality throughout their operation. She has installed and utilized various conservation practices over the years.
Mootz is a well-respected woman in the agricultural industry. She has served as an adviser on the Highland County Farm Service Agency Committee since 2007 and provides an outstanding example of how to incorporate conservation practices that will protect the natural resources of Highland County.
The election of Supervisors for the Board of the Highland Soil & Water Conservation District was also held during the meeting.
There were three candidates running this year for two positions available for a three-year term beginning January 2015. The candidates on the ballot were Jeff Boike, Dan Chambers and Josh Michael.
When the election results were tallied, Jeff Boike was re-elected to serve another term and Dan Chambers was elected to begin a new term.
Other members of the Highland SWCD Board of Supervisors include Larry Shannon, Jim Carr and Kyle Mustard.
