Highland District Hospital was pleased to be chosen as a host site for a recent rural road trip hosted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

In addition to Highland District Hospital’s participation, the event also included members of the healthcare community within Highland County, local officials, the CMS Rural Health Coordinator, as well as officers from the Chicago Local Engagement and Administration Region 5 offices.

The purpose of the event was to share successes and also give CMS officials and other policy makers the opportunity to listen to challenges affecting rural healthcare.

“Rules and regulations imposed nationally across the healthcare industry are not always tailored toward rural health care delivery,” stated Tim Parry, President & Chief Executive Officer of Highland District Hospital. “Being a stop on this road trip was an opportunity for our organization, in representation of many other critical access, rural hospitals, to bring forth these challenges with the people who can help impact change. We were honored to have been chosen and appreciated being able to sit at the same table with them.”

The CMS road trip consisted of stops throughout five counties in Ohio, including Hamilton, Highland, Pike, Hocking and Montgomery.
