Highland County Veterans Service Commission announces Veterans Day events

Highland County Veterans Service Commission has announced several events planned for the 2015 Veterans Day observances.

Among the scheduled events are:

• The Highland County Senior Citizens Center Veterans Day dinner will be 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at the Center on Muntz Street in Hillsboro. It is open to all Highland County veterans. There is no charge for veterans. Donations of $5 requested from non-veteran attendees.

• At 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, there will the annual DAV Veterans Dinner at the Ponderosa Banquet Center on South High Street in Hillsboro.

• The third annual Veterans Appreciation Night will be 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 at the Hi-TEC Center, 1575 North High Street in Hillsboro.

• Veterans Appreciation at the Leesburg Library will be 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9.

• The Bell Gardens Place Veterans Program will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 251 Harry Sauner Road, Hillsboro. The program is for veteran residents and their families.

• On Veterans Day Wednesday, Nov. 11, the Hillsboro Ponderosa will once again provide free meals for veterans during regular business hours.

• The Lynchburg-Clay High School Veterans Day Program will begin at 8 a.m. Nov. 11.

• The Bright Local Jr. High/High School Veterans Day Program begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 11.

• The Bright Local Elementary Veterans Day Program begins at 2 p.m.

• The Fairfield Elementary School Veterans Day Program will be at the Middle School Gym beginning at 10:15 a.m.

• The VFW Post 9094 Veterans Day Program begins at 11 a.m.

• The Hillsboro High School Veterans Assembly & Lunch will be 11 a.m. (*Lunch by RSVP only, please call 393‐3485 by Nov. 6.)

• The Fairfield High School Veterans Day Program will begin at 1:30 p.m.

• The Laurels' Veteran Residents Program will begin at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11.

• The Hillsboro Intermediate School 5th Grade Musical at the Hillsboro Elementary School will be at 6:30 p.m.

• Hillsboro Christian Academy will host a veterans celebration at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at Hillsboro Nazarene Church.
