Sept. 5
 
A resident of the 1900 block of state Route 321 reported vandalism to a vehicle.

A deputy responded to the 100 block of Trenton Street after a complaint of trespassing.

Sept. 6 

A deputy while on patrol in Liberty Township conducted a traffic stop in the 5800 block of U.S. 62. After identifying the driver, it was learned a warrant from Clinton County had been issued for the driver. While attempting to place the driver under arrest, the driver identified as Cornelius O. Crosby, 36, of Hillsboro resisted and ignored commands to exit the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene. A deputy deployed a taser striking the driver in the leg. The driver then sped off traveling southbound on U.S. 62 for approximately ½ mile before leaving the roadway and changing directions, heading northbound reaching speeds of 100 mph as approaching the city of Hillsboro. 

The pursuit came to an end in the 200 block of Monroe St with Crosby exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. A K9 tracked Crosby to a nearby residence where he was taken in to custody and charged with resisting arrest, obstructing official business, failure to comply with an officer, unlawful restraint, no operator’s license and a license plate violation. Two passengers in the vehicle were not charged.

A resident of the 11000 of Maple Trail reported a burglary. This incident remains under investigation.

A resident of the 11000 block of North Shore Drive reported a breaking and entering. A deputy cleared the residence, nothing was reported missing.

A resident of the 7100 block of Highland Trail reported the theft of a firearm.
