Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Aug. 15-21, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 311 911 calls, answered 121 requests for service, dispatched 127 fire and EMS runs, took 38 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.
At 10:46 a.m. on Aug. 17, a property owner on McCoppin Mill Road called the sheriff’s office to report a burglary and theft. Items taken included several televisions, a dryer and other furniture. A deputy took an offense report, and the incident remains under investigation.

On Aug. 18 at 4:48 a.m., a Juvenile Street resident came to the sheriff’s office to report being threatened on social media. The complainant spoke to a deputy, who took an offense report and filed an arrest warrant for the suspect.
A deputy was dispatched to the 4000 block of U.S. Route 50 at 11:25 p.m. on Aug. 19 to investigate a breaking and entering. The property owner discovered a window broken and tools and other items stolen from his shop. Evidence was collected, and an offense report was taken.
A Pausch Road resident called the sheriff’s office at 8:34 p.m. on Aug. 20 after returning home to find someone had forced entry into an out-building and stolen a generator. A deputy was dispatched to the scene, where a report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.
