Highland County Sheriff's Office investigates missing person, later found deceased

On Feb. 24, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding a possible missing person. Deputies responded promptly and initiated an investigation to determine the individual’s whereabouts.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the individual’s last known location was in the area of Monroe Road in Fairfield Township.
Deputies, along with the Highland County North Joint Fire District and the Highland County Sheriff's Office Drone unit, conducted an extensive search of the area on Feb. 24.
On Feb. 25, recovery operations were initiated as part of the ongoing investigation. At approximately 6:30 p.m., the individual was located deceased in the vicinity of Monroe Road.
There is no foul play suspected.
At this time, the identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this loss.
