Highland County Convention and Visitors Bureau director leaves area

Sara Lukens, director of the Highland County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and a board member of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce, has left the county and is now living in Texas, according to a family member.
Highland County Commissioner Shane Wilkin said he has contacted a Convention and Visitors Bureau board member and suggested a meeting be scheduled as soon as possible to address the vacancy.
Wilkin said the director's position is the decision of the board. When asked if the county commission would assist the board, Wilkin said, "Sure, if they need anything, we would be happy to assist."
The Convention and Visitors Bureau receives tax dollars through the local hotel/motel "bed" tax, Wilkin said.
