Highland County Board of Elections issues statement on operations

By
Highland County Board of Elections, Press Release

The Highland County Board of Elections issued the following statement Friday afternoon.

The Highland County Director of Elections is on an excused medical leave at this time. Michelle Swallen, Deputy Director, is in charge of the office until further notice.

Be assured that the integrity of past and upcoming elections is not nor has ever been in jeopardy.

Due to these staffing issues, the Highland County Board of Elections may be occasionally closed due to the need for remaining staff to attend training sessions that further improve the reliability of our election system. Please check our website and the local newspapers for announcements as to when the office might be closed.

Be assured that all requirements regarding the past and future elections are being completed in a timely manner.
